The Lost creator will write and produce the tentatively-titled sci-fi film 1952, according to Deadline.
Lindelof is currently at work on the script for Star Trek 2. Due to his involvement in the film's production as well, it may take some time for him to begin work on the Disney project.
1952 will be an original piece. In addition, Disney is looking to expand the concept outside of movies into multiple platforms.
Lindelof recently blasted X-Men: First Class actress January Jones for her role as Emma Frost in the film, stating that she 'sucks' at acting.
In April, the screenwriter feuded with Game of Thrones author George R. R. Martin after Martin said that he felt "cheated" by the conclusion to Lost.
Star Trek 2 is currently scheduled to be released on June 29, 2012.
