'Pacific' star cast in Brad Pitt's 'World War Z'

The Pacific star James Badge Dale has reportedly joined the cast of Paramount's upcoming zombie epic World War Z.

Variety reports that Dale has been cast opposite the likes of Brad Pitt and Mireille Enos, and will portray an American soldier who attempts to tell the authorities that the zombie threat is real.

Quantum of Solace director Marc Forster is on board to helm the project, which is being produced by Pitt's company Plan B for Paramount Pictures.

World War Z is adapted from Max Brooks's well-received 2006 novel World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War, about the aftermath of a zombie epidemic.

Dale is best known for playing Robert Leckie in the HBO miniseries The Pacific, but has also had notable roles on both 24 and the AMC series Rubicon.

World War Z is due to begin filming later this summer.
