The director and actor first worked together on last year's HBO movie You Don't Know Jack, which resulted in Pacino receiving an Emmy award for his portrayal of euthanasia activist Jack Kevorkian.
According to Deadline, the two are also preparing to start work on an adaptation of Philip Roth novel The Humbling.
Levinson has adapted the screenplay with Buck Henry and Michael Zebede, and has cast Pacino as lead character Simon Axler, a stage actor who retires to upstate New York to live with a younger woman.
Last month, it was confirmed that Pacino had signed on to star in Levinson's Gotti: Three Generations as alleged underboss Aniello Dellacroce.
The Humbling is expected to begin filming this fall.
