Chace Crawford joins Pierce Brosnan in 'The House Gun'

Gossip Girl star Chace Crawford has reportedly signed up to star as the lead in a new independent film called The House Gun.

The project, from Lucky Monkey Productions, will be an adaptation of Nobel Prize winner Nadine Gordimer's critically acclaimed 1998 novel set in post-apartheid South Africa.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Crawford will play a South African man accused of murdering his housemate.

Former James Bond actor Pierce Brosnan has been cast as the man's father, who is convinced of his innocence and hires a black lawyer to defend him in court.

Lucky Monkey Productions was also behind the 2009 arthouse comedy City Island.

Crawford recently signed on to star opposite Katie Holmes in the romantic comedy Responsible Adults, and is said to be trying to win a guest role on Fox's musical series Glee.
