The Swedish star of the The Killing will take on the role of a tattooed artist who breaks off his engagement within weeks of the wedding, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Greenberg actress Greta Gerwig plays the heartbroken former girlfriend who is forced to navigate the singles scene, while Hamish Linklater is in a supporting role as the male best friend who harbours a secret crush on her.
The film will mark the second narrative feature of Daryl Wein, who made his debut with the indie ensemble romance Breaking Upwards in 2009.
Salt actress Zoe Lister Jones, who will also appear in the movie, is writing the screenplay with Wein.
Kinnaman, whose breakthrough role was in the Swedish thriller Easy Money, has also recently been cast in the drama Safe House.
