The Lost producer spoke to Grantland about the prevalence of spoilers, stating that he is reluctant to include twists at the end of his scripts given that they are likely to be ruined.
"Now, if I thought of a major twist, I wouldn't do it unless it was a home run," Lindelof said. "Because at this point, a base hit is not acceptable.
"Once you decide to do something like that, you're faced with the question of, 'What am I willing to do to hide this?' Am I willing to lie to pretty much everyone I know? Is it worth lying to the crew and to everyone I work with? Because that's the only way you can pull it off."
Lindelof recently secured a seven-figure deal with Disney to pen the tentatively-titled sci-fi film 1952.
Last week, the 38-year-old blasted January Jones's performance in X-Men: First Class, claiming that the Mad Men actress "sucked" at acting.
Lindelof is currently at work on the screenplay for Star Trek 2.
