Organizers for the 17th annual festival have confirmed that Wenders will travel to Bosnia and Herzegovina to present his 3D film Pina, a documentary about the work of German modern dance choreographer Pina Bausch.
Wenders's involvement was touted in an official statement, declaring: "[The] Sarajevo Film Festival has a great pleasure to announce that one of the guests of its 17th edition will be prominent director Wim Wenders. This multiple [award-winning] director ranks among the most successful representatives of the 'New German Film'."
Aside from premiering Pina, the Wings of Desire helmer will also hold lectures with budding filmmakers at the nearby Sarajevo Talent Campus in a programme co-sponsored by the International Film Festival in Berlin.
Wenders is best known for directing the critically acclaimed movies Paris, Texas, Until the End of the World and the Oscar-nominated documentary Buena Vista Social Club.
The Sarajevo Film Festival, which runs from July 22 to July 30, was founded in the midst of the Bosnian War in 1995 and has since attracted stars such as Willem Dafoe and U2 frontman Bono.
