The actor was awarded with a Life Achievement award earlier this month by the American Film Institute, but has insisted that his career is far from over.
"That's kind of scary. It's kind of like, hey, you've done your thing, now sit down," Freeman joked to The Washington Post. "I'm not quite ready to do that."
The 74-year-old actor said that he only had to look to his friends and fellow AFI award winners like Clint Eastwood and Sidney Poitier to be reassured that he has plenty more to offer the film industry.
"A lot of people I know, they didn't sit down after they got one," he continued. "So I don't have to worry too much about it."
Freeman also revealed that the most unusual role he had ever been offered was that of God in the two comedy films Bruce Almighty and Evan Almighty, and confirmed that he will begin filming his role in The Dark Knight Rises in the UK later this month.
The American Film Institute's Life Achievement Award ceremony for Morgan Freeman will air tonight on TV Land.
