The highly-anticipated sequel topped the worldwide earnings of its predecessor over this past weekend, taking in $488.7 million (£302.1 million), according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The original Hangover grossed $467.5 million (£289 million).
Mike Tyson's tattoo artist S. Victor Whitmill is currently involved in a lawsuit with Warner Bros, claiming that the studio used his tattoo design without his permission in The Hangover Part II. Whitmill sought to delay the release of the film, but was ultimately denied.
However, it was recently reported that Ed Helms's facial tattoo in The Hangover Part II might be digitally altered for home video release in order to prevent Whitmill's request for an expedited trial.
Earlier this month, Hangover star Zach Galifianakis revealed the details of a third Hangover film, stating that it could focus on an escape from a mental institution.
