The First Grader star, who has appeared in Miami Vice and Pirates of the Caribbean, shot to prominence on the big screen as Selena in Boyle's 2002 apocalyptic horror. The pair recently reunited for a National Theatre production of Frankenstein.
Speaking to Digital Spy, Harris praised Oscar winner Boyle for his relentless work ethic.
"He's so amazing in terms of how much he's doing, I know he's squeezing in a film before [he directs the Olympics opening ceremony], he just does so much and works so hard," Harris said.
"He's the reason, really, that I have the career that I've had because he took a risk on me and gave me Selena in 28 Days Later. [He] really started my career for me, I'm very grateful to Danny Boyle."
Asked if she could have a role opposite Michael Fassbender in Boyle's upcoming movie Trance, the actress replied: "I don't know about that. Because Danny knows me, I'm not going to go knocking on his door saying 'please put me in your next movie!' He has the pick of every actress."
