The Black Swan director spoke to IFC News about his forthcoming film based on the biblical story, stating that he looks forward to turning the film into a grand epic.
"I want to make a big event film and I think it can be that," Aronofsky said.
Earlier reports suggested that Aronofsky is looking for a budget of $130 million (£80m).
The Requiem for a Dream helmer went on to claim that he does not view the story of Noah's Ark as a particularly religious tale, asserting that he believes the film will resonate with a wide audience.
"I don't think it's a very religious story," Aronofsky said. "I think it's a great fable that's part of so many different religions and spiritual practices. I just think it's a great story that's never been on film."
Christian Bale is reportedly in talks to star in the film.
Aronofsky is working on a Noah's Ark comic book to be released before the film as well.
