Julianne Hough: 'Tom Cruise can really sing'

Julianne Hough has praised her Rock of Ages co-star Tom Cruise for his performance in the film.

The singer, who will play aspiring actress Sherrie in the upcoming Adam Shankman adaptation of the Broadway show, told MTV News that while she was not around for the first days of shooting, Cruise received positive reviews from nearly all of his co-stars.

"I wasn't there for the first day of shooting for his stuff, but I just got people emailing me, like, 'Oh my gosh', 'chills', 'standing ovation', 'holy crap', 'the crew was blown away'," Hough recalled. "And I'm like, 'I missed it! What the heck?' So, he's astonishing.

"The guy can dance, the guy obviously can act. I mean, he can do it all, and he does it all very well... I'm not kidding, the guy can sing."

Cruise recently tweeted a link to the first photo of himself as Stacee Jaxx in Rock of Ages.

Rock of Ages also stars Alec Baldwin, Malin Akerman, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Bryan Cranston and Russell Brand.
