In an interview with GQ, Bay stated that Fox's infamous remarks did not hurt him because he knew that the actress was only looking for attention.
"I wasn't hurt, because I know that's just Megan," the 46-year-old director said. "Megan loves to get a response. And she does it in kind of the wrong way. I'm sorry, Megan. I'm sorry I made you work twelve hours. I'm sorry that I'm making you show up on time. Movies are not always warm and fuzzy."
Bay recently revealed that producer Steven Spielberg ordered that Fox be fired from the Transformers franchise for her Hitler comments.
Transformers star Shia LaBeouf confirmed that he will not be returning to make another film in the robot series, claiming that he doubts Bay will return either.
Transformers: Dark of the Moon opens in cinemas in the US and the UK on June 29.
