The Prime Minister called Tom Hooper's Oscar-winning drama, starring Colin Firth and Helena Bonham Carter, the "best of British cinema".
Cameron told BBC Radio 2's Steve Wright in the Afternoon: "I saw [The King's Speech] and thought it was fantastic. It just showed that films don't have to be fantastically expensive in order to be really brilliant. I thought it was very, very moving."
He continued: "I just thought the acting was absolutely superb and I really enjoyed that. The best of British cinema."
However, Cameron conceded that he doesn't "get to the cinema as often as I'd like", saying that he likes to watch TV murder mysteries such as The Killing and Jason Isaacs's Case Histories.
