The X-Men scribe praised the script and paid tribute to screenwriter Chris McQuarrie.
"[I like it] very much," he told Graphic NYC. "That's all I can say. Chris McQuarrie is brilliant."
The Wolverine is a sequel to Gavin Hood's 2009 superhero spinoff X-Men Origins: Wolverine. The film is reportedly inspired by Claremont and Frank Miller's 1982 Wolverine miniseries.
Darren Aronofsky was originally on hand to direct the film before family commitments forced him to exit the project. He was recently replaced by Knight And Day helmer James Mangold.
An official release date for The Wolverine is yet to be confirmed.
