Ed Helms is set to star in a new comedy from Academy Award-nominated writer and director Rob Pearlstein.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Helms will star in and serve as executive producer on True North, a new project successfully sold by Pearlstein and Image Entertainment.

The film follows a workaholic father who falls into a coma for two years after a horrific plane crash, only to wake up and find that he looks completely different due to facial reconstructive surgery.

Helms recently starred in comedy sequel The Hangover Part II, which has taken $495.9 million worldwide since its release.

The Office star is also in talks to star opposite the likes of Isla Fisher, Cameron Diaz and Jennifer Lopez in the romantic comedy What to Expect When You're Expecting.

Pearlstein has directed many episodes of NC series Medium and The Inside, but is best known for his Academy Award-nominated short film Our Time Is Up.
