The Transformers director urged fans to go see the latest instalment in the robot-based franchise in 3D, stating that the movie is meant to be seen in the format.
"Dark of the Moon has some of the most technically challenging sequences ever shot," Bay wrote. "And shot in 3D. I must urge you to find the very best theatre and see this movie in that format. 3D was a forethought, not an afterthought in this movie."
Bay continued: "I'm glad [James] Cameron and Steven Spielberg really convinced me to shoot in this new technology. We used and invented many new techniques to make the 3D sharper, brighter and more colour-contrast. I think theatre owners heard their audience that they need to respect the specs of the projectors and not dim the bulbs to save money."
The 46-year-old recently revealed that he was insulted by movie critics who panned second film Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, citing a writer's strike as one of the reasons that the film was not as good as the original.
Last week, Bay confessed that he was not offended by Megan Fox's comments that he behaved like Adolf Hitler on the set of Transformers, claiming that he knew that the actress was only looking for attention.
Transformers: Dark of the Moon opens in cinemas in the US and the UK on June 29.
