The Goodfellas actor will portray a corrupt police officer in the highly-anticipated follow-up to director Derek Cianfrance's critically-acclaimed film Blue Valentine, according to Variety.
The Place Beyond the Pines tells the story of a motorcycle rider who is forced to turn to a life of crime in order to support his child.
Ryan Gosling and Bradley Cooper were reported to have signed on to star in the movie in early May, playing the motorcycle rider and the cop who is trying to stop him respectively.
In addition, Eva Mendes recently joined the cast of the film as the love interest to Ryan Gosling's character.
Greta Gerwig is also currently reported to be in negotiations to join the movie.
The Place Beyond the Pines is scheduled to be released in 2013.
