Atonement actress Saoirse Ronan previously signed on to star in the lead role in the film based on the Twilight author's novel.
Open Road Films recently secured a distribution deal for the movie, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The company intends on releasing the film on March 29, 2013.
"I'm thrilled to be adding another fantastic partner to an already amazing group. Everyone involved has so much passion for the project. It really is a dream team," Meyer said in a written statement.
Director Andrew Niccol will reportedly begin shooting the movie in February of next year.
Published in 2008, The Host tells the story of an alien race that takes over the bodies of humans. However, one human refuses to give in to her captor and the two ultimately become allies, embarking on a journey to find the man they love.
