The Grammy winner and the award-winning composer will collaborate on the highly-anticipated movie's score and soundtrack.
Lionsgate's Head of Film Music Tracy McKnight released a statement on the collaboration, praising the two artists' musical talent.
"The Hunger Games is such a special property," said McKnight. "It has worldwide mass appeal, but it's also sophisticated, cerebral, soulful and rebellious. We needed a composer who can translate these qualities musically, and we have not one but two incredible artists in an absolutely thrilling first time ever collaboration."
Based on the Suzanne Collins novel of the same name, The Hunger Games tells the story of a futuristic dystopia in which children are forced to compete to the death in a televised competition.
The film star Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson.
The Hunger Games is scheduled to be released on March 23, 2012.
