'Beasts Of Burden' gets a screenwriter

Darren Lemke has been hired to script the movie adaptation of Dark Horse Comics' Beasts Of Burden.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the scribe will reunite with Andrew Adamson on the CGI project, with whom he previously collaborated on Shrek Forever After.

Beasts Of Burden is based on the award-winning Dark Horse title of the same name. The comic, which follows a group of animals who fight off supernatural threats, was created by Evan Dorkin and Jill Thompson.

Lemke has no prior experience with comic book adaptations, although he recently worked with X-Men and Superman Returns helmer Bryan Singer on the upcoming Jack The Giant Killer.

Adamson is expected to direct the movie and co-produce alongside Aron Warner, and Dark Horse Entertainment president Mike Richardson. Keith Goldberg of Dark Horse will executive produce.

A release date for Beasts Of Burden is yet to be confirmed.
