Fox left the series following the second Transformers film after allegedly being axed over comments she made about director Michael Bay. She was replaced by British model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.
Gibson, who reprised his role as USAF Tech Sergeant Epps in the latest Transformers instalment Transformers: Dark of the Moon, told PopEater that Fox's absence from the movie saddens him as they had worked together from the beginning.
"Having a franchise that she's been a part of from the beginning, and not being able to have her on board is probably the most difficult," he explained.
"Sometimes things don't work out, but I wish her well. In business, her career, her personal life."
Gibson also admitted to trading insults with Michael Bay during shooting over his "demanding" and "aggressive" methods.
