According to Film School Rejects, the new footage will be included with the home releases of Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger, and focus on S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Phil Coulson.
The website went on to speculate that Marvel is planning to shoot other short films based on its second-tier heroes with the intention of running them in front of their blockbuster theatrical releases.
Agent Coulson, who is portrayed by Clark Gregg, first appeared in Iron Man and recently featured in Thor. Gregg will reprise the role for 2012's superhero team-up The Avengers.
Captain America: The First Avenger is released in theatres on July 22 in the US and July 29 in the UK.
Thor arrives on DVD and Blu-ray in September.
