'Snow White and the Huntsman' to be a trilogy?

Joe Roth said that the reimagined fairytale adaptation will serve as a complete film in itself, but will also plant the seeds for two possible sequels.
"[Snow White and the Huntsman] is meant to be the first in a series of films," Roth told Entertainment Weekly. "This story will end, but there will be questions remaining for these three characters."
The film stars Twilight actress Kristen Stewart as Snow White, Thor star Chris Hemsworth as the Huntsman and Charlize Theron as the Evil Queen.
Roth also teased some of the first concrete details about the film's plot, which sees the ambiguous Huntsman eventually turn against the Evil Queen and begin training Snow White to fight against her.
"We retain the basic story, a young girl meant to be the queen who is cast out," Roth explained. "The Huntsman is a mercenary. His job is to capture runaway girls, who are all fleeing the kingdom because of the Queen."
"He's not a nice guy, but not only that, he's someone who has lost hope and lost faith," the producer continued. "He has lost his wife, given up on everything."
Roth also revealed that Sanders and the film's producers had originally envisioned casting an unknown in the role of Snow White, as they did with Alice in Wonderland, but eventually went for the Twilight star instead.
"As we went through it, it just became evident to me that Kristen occupies a space in the universe where she's a terrific actress only known for one part," he added. "I hope this is a movie that will appeal to those who find Twilight appealing, but also [Stewart] is someone who has some p*ss and vinegar in her."
Snow White and the Huntsman is due out in cinemas on June 1, 2012.
