'Bridesmaids' is highest-earning female comedy
According to Gossip Cop, the film has so far earned a domestic total of $152.9 million, putting it just ahead of previous title holder Sex and the City.
Bridesmaids stars Kristen Wiig and Maya Rudolph, and follows a struggling maid of honour's attempts to support her best friend ahead of her impending wedding.
The film has also become the top-grossing film of producer Judd Apatow's career so far, as well as standing as Universal Pictures' most successful romantic comedy of all time.
Feig recently confirmed that he already had plans for a sequel to the critically-acclaimed comedy, tentatively titled Bridesmaids Revisited.
