The Nikita star was a popular choice to play the role of Hunger Games protagonist Katniss Everdeen. Although the role ultimately went to Jennifer Lawrence, Fonseca stated that she appreciated the outpouring of support, Movieline reports.
"That was really, really nice of everybody," Fonseca said of the online campaign for her casting in The Hunger Games. "It was incredible."
The actress went on to describe the audition process for the highly-anticipated film, praising director Gary Ross.
"I went to Gary's house and read with him - he's just a lovely man," Fonseca said. "You know, there were just a few of us girls by that point and Gary has a studio in his house. We worked on it for a little bit. But I was just lucky to get that far, to be honest. It was cool to meet with Gary."
Nikita producer Craig Silverstein recently revealed that Fonseca's character will head away from right and towards wrong in the second season of the CW series.
