Alicia Silverstone, Rosie Perez, Oliver Platt, Sharon Stone, Phylicia Rashad, Edie Falco and John Turturro are already signed up to the movie.
The comic novel written by British writer Marie Phillips centres on the meeting between a young couple and a family of downtrodden gods who are struggling with life on earth.
Gods Behaving Badly's setting has been changed from contemporary London to modern-day New York, where shooting will begin in mid-July, according to Indiewire.
Walken will be taking on the role of family head Zeus, transformed into a down-on-his-luck blue collar worker.
Silverstone plays a mortal who becomes embroiled with the troubled family, when a vengeful Aphrodite, a sex phone worker, makes television psychic Apollo fall in love with her.
Little Miss Sunshine producer Marc Turtletaub will be making his feature-length directorial debut with the gentle satire.
Walken is also attached to the black comedy Seven Psychopaths from In Bruges writer and director Martin McDonagh.
The film, co-starring Colin Farrell and Mickey Rourke, is about two petty criminals and friends of Farrell's screenwriter character who unintentionally kidnap the dog of a major crime lord.
