Giovanni Ribisi joins Ryan Gosling, Sean Penn in 'Gangster Squad'

The Avatar actor will join confirmed cast members Sean Penn, Ryan Gosling and Josh Brolin in Zombieland director Ruben Fleischer's latest project, Deadline reports.
Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston is reportedly in talks for the cop drama, which is currently in pre-production.
The plot is based on a series of LA Times articles chronicling the machinations of a 1940s Los Angeles police department battling newly-arrived East Coast mobsters. It also centres on corruption within the department itself.
Former police officer Will Beal adapted the feature for the big screen.
Ribisi will be playing tech expert Conway Keeler, who assists the team in making gadgets to help them spy on suspected criminals.
The actor, who will appear in the Avatar sequel, will next be seen in Waco and The Rum Diary.
Inspired by Hunter S Thompson's novel, The Rum Diary follows the adventures of a journalist, played by Johnny Depp, who finds himself marooned on an island with other hard-drinkers.
