The actress, who plays villainess Dolores Umbridge, was at the London premiere of Deathly Hallows: Part 2, where she was greeted by enthusiastic fans of the series.
Staunton told Digital Spy: "It's pretty phenomenal. I thought last year was exciting - this certainly has upped that a bit!"
The Harry Potter star went on to list the reasons why she believes Harry Potter has resonated with such a large audience.
Staunton explained: "You've got fantastic books, fantastic scripts, great directors and bloody good actors in it, and each year they've tried to make the films better and better.
