Emma Watson has admitted that she is relishing the chance to have some "power" over her life following the end of the Harry Potter franchise.

The 21-year-old stated that she was looking forward to discovering more about her true self after spending 11 years as Hermione Granger.

"Not a single second of the day was in my power," she explained to The Mirror. "I was told what time I'd get picked up, what time I could eat and when I could go to the bathroom.

"I have spent more of my life being someone else than I have being myself. I've always had a strong sense of who I am and what I want, but I do need to spend more time figuring that out."

However, Watson clarified that she could never regret her Harry Potter experience, stating: "It will always be a part of who I am and I feel so blessed to have shared in it."

Watson also elaborated on her decision to drop out of Brown University earlier this year, which she claimed was motivated by her Harry Potter commitments and not the bullying she was purported to have received from fellow students.

"I was commuting back and forth between the US and the UK trying to fulfill my commitment to this enormous Harry Potter franchise and it just wasn't feasible," she explained. "I'm only human.

"I wasn't getting the best out of either my studies or the filming, so I decided to give a proper goodbye to ten years of work and resume my studies later."
