The actor's seven consecutive films since 1998's Saving Private Ryan have all taken more than $100 million.
This seals his title as Hollywood's top movie attraction, The Guinness Book Of World Records has confirmed.
The top-earning movies in Hanks's run of success are Cast Away, Road To Perdition, The Ladykillers, Polar Express, The Green Mile and Toy Story 2.
If it was not for 1996 film That Thing You Do, the star would have notched up a run of 11 movies taking over $100 million.
However, his upcoming The Da Vinci Code, opening on May 19, is tipped for success.
