The Perfect Getaway star, who has appeared in four instalments of the horror series since 2002, shared her surprise at how the relatively "normal" movie-making experience had managed to affect her subconscious.
"I have a lot of zombie nightmares," she told the Mail On Sunday. "Work has permeated my consciousness. I don't even like scary movies, but I've lived for ten years inside this world of horror images."
Detailing the dreams, she continued: "I'm being chased, they're closing in on me. It's weird, because the actual making of the movies is very normal. The zombies are on set drinking coffee, having a cigarette and chatting. It's so banal. Then I close my eyes sometimes and they're after me."
Despite her troubling dreams, Jovovich identified the "fanboy" fascination with her Resident Evil character Alice as a greater concern.
"The fanboys have a big crush on me," she said. "The Resident Evil films I'm in originate from a computer game, and I'm aware that some people out there have feelings for me, but I'm careful about my life and my space. I don't accept personal mail from anyone any more, for example. You can't please everyone.
A fifth entry in the franchise, entitled Resident Evil: Retribution, is due for release in September 2012.
Jovovich was the first person to reveal the title of the new film back in May.
