The Help actress told Extra that her role in the 1960s southern drama marks a new era in her career, as it is the first time that she has played an adult.
Stone explained: "This is the first time I've played an adult role, you have to realise. I've only played people in high school before! Maybe I grew up this year."
Discussing the possibility that The Help could draw nominations at the Academy Awards next year, the 22-year-old joked: "I think so, and you know what? I heard it last night and I thought I had an ear infection! But it was Oscar buzz."
Stone can next be seen alongside Julianne Moore and Steve Carell in Crazy, Stupid, Love and in the role of Gwen Stacy in the upcoming Spider-Man reboot.
She has also reportedly been offered the lead role in the big-screen adaptation of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies as Elizabeth Bennet.
