'The Thing' prequel trailer launches online

Directed by Dutch filmmaker Matthijs van Heijningen Jr, the film serves as a prequel to John Carpenter's 1982 classic about an unseen alien menace terrorising an isolated science team.
It sees Death Proof actress Mary Elizabeth Winstead take on a lead role as Dr Kate Lloyd, opposite the likes of Joel Edgerton, Ulruch Thomsen and Eric Christian Olsen.
The Thing was scripted by Ronal D. Moore and Eric Heisserer, and takes place only three days before the events of the original film.
John Carpenter recently claimed that he was not asked to have any involvement with the project.
The Thing is expected to hit US and UK cinemas on October 14.
