Amanda Righetti joins 'The Avengers'

The Mentalist star is the latest to join the Marvel Comics franchise, the Daily Blam reports.
While it is confirmed that Righetti will play a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent in Captain America: The First Avenger, there is no word yet on which comic book character she will be portraying in The Avengers.
Reports speculate that the actress will play either Carol Danvers, also known as Ms. Marvel, or Sharon Carter, the niece of Peggy Carter, Captain America's (Chris Evans) love interest.
In addition, the website confirms that a teaser trailer for The Avengers will air next week ahead of Captain America: The First Avenger.
Evans recently praised The Avengers' director Joss Whedon, insisting that the movie is definitely in the right hands.
It was reported last month that an Avengers stuntman was nearly decapitated on the set of the comic book team-up.
The Avengers is due out in theaters in the UK on April 27, 2012 and in the US on May 4, 2012.
