'Game of Thrones' star Sean Bean to play Snow White's dad

Sean Bean has signed up for a leading role in the formerly-titled Brothers Grimm: Snow White.

The Game of Thrones actor is to play Snow White's father in the live-action adaptation of the classic fairy tale.

Priest actress Lily Collins and Julia Roberts will be playing the title character and Snow White's wicked stepmother respectively.

The Brothers Grimm: Snow White centres on Snow White's adventures with the seven dwarves, who look after her when she is banished from the kingdom because of the stepmother's jealousy.

The Social Network star Armie Hammer plays the prince who sets out to marry the princess, only for her to disappear.

Bean will also be joining Jordan Prentice, Martin Klebba, Mare Winningham and theatre star Nathan Lane.

Tarsem Singh's currently-untitled film will come out shortly before rival adaptation Snow White and the Huntsman, which could become a trilogy when it is released in Spring 2012.

The actor is also attached to the new darker version of Peter Pan, titled Pan, and Irvine Welsh's directorial debut The Magnificent Eleven.

Bean said recently that he wants to return to the fantasy epic Game of Thrones even though his character was beheaded in the ninth episode.
