The Hunger Games actress told Entertainment Weekly that she has nothing but positive memories from shooting the film and described the set as a "huge party".
Banks explained: "It was one of the most original things I'd ever read. I was so tickled by everything in it. I just felt like I needed to know these guys. It was definitely a huge party.
"Well, first of all, I remember meeting [co-stars] AD Miles and Amy Poehler and thinking that they were the two funniest people I'd ever met in my entire life. We'd be standing around in sweat shirts and overcoats because it was so cold, drinking s**tty beers and they would be doing bits. Non-stop bits. It was like being at your own private, amazing stand-up comedy show."
Banks recently said that she loves that Wet Hot American Summer has reached cult status ten years after its original 2001 release.
The film's director David Wain has expressed interest in making a prequel to the comedy, while cast members including Banks, Christopher Meloni and Michael Showalter have also voiced their support for a follow-up.
