Helena Bonham Carter to play brothel owner in 'Lone Ranger'

Helena Bonham Carter is the latest signing to the cast of Lone Ranger.

The Harry Potter actress will be joining new additions Dwight Yoakam, James Dale Badge and Barry Pepper, according to Variety.

Bonham Carter is expected to play the eccentric owner of a local brothel in the rebooted adaptation of the Disney film by Pirates of the Caribbean director Gore Verbinski.

Armie Hammer and Bonham Carter's regular co-star Johnny Depp will play the titular role and his sidekick Tonto respectively.

Green Hornet star Tom Wilkinson was also up for a pivotal role as a railroad tycoon in the Western.

Depp has said that the film reinvents the relationship between the Lone Ranger and Tonto in the original television series.

He said: "I remember watching [the TV series] as a kid, with Jay Silverheels and Clayton Moore, and going, 'Why is the f**king Lone Ranger telling Tonto what to do?'"

Bonham Carter will next be seen in Mike Newell's adaptation of Charles Dickens's Great Expectations and Tim Burton's Dark Shadows with Depp.

Lone Ranger is scheduled for release in UK cinemas for December 21, 2012.
