The R&B star will be playing a central role in the latest version of Tobe Hooper's classic slasher film, Heat Vision reports.
Texas Chainsaw Massacre follows a group of teenagers who get stranded with a family of cannibals in Texas. Songz will take on the role of Alexandra Daddario's character's boyfriend who fights off the killers.
His previous acting work includes appearing in commercials for camera company Kodak and Roc A Wear clothing.
Takers director John Luessenhop will be directing from a script by Adam Marcus and Debra Sullivan.
The film, which is now in a "contemporary setting", will be released in October 2012.
Songz said in January that his personal New Year's resolution was "to stay true to myself" and "never let anybody else's thoughts dictate that of my own".
Songz mostly recently collaborated with British grime star Chipmunk on the single 'Take Off'.
