The film's producer and director quashed speculation on his official Facebook page.
He wrote: "We won't be doing any Hobbit presentation at Comic-Con in San Diego this year.
"New Line and Warner Bros were very happy to support a presentation, but I declined, simply because I felt it was too early. There's so much more of the films still to shoot.
"I just wanted to get that out there, because I've seen various references to the possibility of something Hobbity at Comic-Con. [I] hate to disappoint anyone. But something tells me we will be there in force next year."
Jackson did, however, present a new video blog from the movie's first production block, adding: "Please enjoy this - at least you don't have to travel to San Diego to see it!"
He has also pledged to stage a '20 Questions' session for fans, promising to sit down and complete his "half-written" answers "very, very soon".
The Hobbit movies will star Martin Freeman as Bilbo Baggins and includes Lord of the Rings stars Elijah Wood, Orlando Bloom, Andy Serkis, Sir Ian McKellen and Cate Blanchett.
The ensemble cast also includes Benedict Cumberbatch, Stephen Fry, Richard Armitage, Evangeline Lilly and Aidan Turner.
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and The Hobbit: There And Back Again are scheduled for release on December 14, 2012 and December 13, 2013 respectively.
