Speaking at San Diego Comic-Con about his new robot-boxing movie Real Steel, the actor said that he would fight the Japanese mutant Kenuichio Harada in the sequel to the 2009 film X-Men Origins: Wolverine, according to GeekTyrant.
Jackman said: "I'm filming Les Miserables in February, but before that I will be filming Wolverine 2 in October.
"Chris McQuarrie has written a fantastic script and it should turn out really good. I'll fight the Silver Samurai in it, so that should be exciting. Most of the filming will take place in Japan."
The Wolverine is based on Chris Claremont and Frank Miller's 1982 Wolverine miniseries.
It sees the character fighting the Silver Samurai for the sake of his former lover and daughter of a crime boss, Mariko Yashida, who also happens to be the Samurai's half-sister.
Knight and Day's James Mangold is the latest director to be attached to the movie.
Jackman has previously said that shooting on The Wolverine is due to begin in October.
