The Sin City director told audiences at Comic-Con that writer Frank Miller has penned a script for Sin City 2, revealing that production on the highly-anticipated sequel could start soon, Movieline reports.
"[Sin City 2] could be shot as early as this year," Rodriguez said.
He went on to confirm that the follow-up to the 2005 thriller will be filmed in 3D.
In March, actress Carla Gugino told Digital Spy that there was a real possibility of Sin City 2 being made.
Rodriguez previously revealed that he would like to cast Bruce Willis in Sin City 2. The Die Hard actor played the ill-fated Hartigan in the original film, but the director confessed that he still hopes to bring Willis back for the sequel.
Rodriguez's next film, Spy Kids: All the Time in the World , will open on August 19.
