'The Godfather' actor GD Spradlin dies, aged 90

GD Spradlin has died at the age of 90.
The character actor, famous for his role as corrupt senator Pat Geary in The Godfather Part II died of natural causes at his California home, his grandson Justin Demko told the Los Angeles Times.
Spradlin is also noted for playing the general who sets Martin Sheen on his mission in Francis Ford Coppola's Apocalypse Now.
He also appeared in more than 70 television and film productions, including The War of the Roses, Tank and Ed Wood.
Spradlin served in the Army Air Forces in China during World War II and worked as a lawyer before becoming a successful oil producer.
He directed John F Kennedy's 1960 presidential campaign and unsuccessfully ran for mayor of Oklahoma City in 1965.
