'Twilight' director Bill Condon: 'Birth scene is emotional'

In the much talked-about scene, Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) endures a painful childbirth with vampire Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson)'s child.
Condon told MTV Movies: "I gave myself one real rule, which was, 'Let's only see what Bella could see lying there'. All this stuff is happening [around her] and she is seeing it from her point of view.
"She can look around, she can look up, but basically you get to experience every moment of that birth, including if you read the book, you know exactly what that image means. If you haven't read the book, you might not know because it's not being absolutely explicit."
Pattinson recently described the birth scene as "hardcore" at the Twilight Comic-Con panel. He added: "I think the birth scene... for a fantasy series that has kind of a youngish audience, it goes very far. There was no other way to do it."
Stewart, meanwhile, has called the scene "really effective".
The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn also stars Taylor Lautner, Ashley Greene, Michael Sheen, Dakota Fanning, Anna Kendrick, Billy Burke and Maggie Grace.
