Darren Aronofsky 'didn't predict Black Swan success'

Vincent Cassel has said that even director Darren Aronofsky could not have predicted the success of Black Swan.

The film, which starred Cassel alongside Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis, received a clutch of Oscar and BAFTA nods, including 'Best Actress' wins for Portman.

Asked if he thought while making it that Black Swan would be such a commercial and critical success, Cassel told Digital Spy: "No - nobody could really imagine that it would become this thing.

"It was a hard movie to put on - to raise the money and everything. I don't think that a lot of people would have bet that it would have become something like that - honestly - not even Darren!"

Cassel also confirmed that he is in talks to appear in Danny Boyle's upcoming Trance and said that he enjoyed working with David Cronenberg and Michael Fassbender on new historical drama A Dangerous Method

The actor stars in Romain Gavras's directorial feature debut Our Day Will Come, which is released on DVD on August 22.
