Executive producer Peter Berg told reporters at the Television Critics Association's summer press tour that he is currently at work on a script for a film that would reunite Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton's characters on the big screen, TV Line reports.
"We're writing a script," Berg said. "We've been meeting with (fellow Friday Night Lights executive producer) Jason Katims for the last couple of weeks. We have a real good script idea. We want to do it. We're very serious about doing it. We intend to do it."
Friday Night Lights recently aired its series finale on NBC.
Berg went on to say that he hopes to shoot the movie sometime in 2012.
"[The] goal would be to focus the film around Kyle and Connie and bring [in] some new characters and then bring in some of our familiar faces," Berg said. "We have, I think, a really fresh, very original take on it. We're very serious about wanting to do it… If all goes well, we would shoot it next year at some point."
Chandler, who played Eric Taylor on the series, admitted last week that he is choosing his roles carefully following the end of the critically-acclaimed football drama.
Chandler and Britton are both up for Emmy Awards for their respective roles on Friday Night Lights.
