Momoa, who plays the film's lead character, said that he is signed on to reprise the role if audiences respond well to the reboot.
"I am [signed on] as long as people go out and watch [the first film], you know what I mean?" Momoa told Crave Online, regarding the possibility for a sequel.
The Game of Thrones star explained that his script is currently awaiting approval from studio bosses.
"[W]e're waiting to see if they'll accept it," Momoa continued. "It will mostly be [original]. It's character-adapted, because I really want to get into more of the mythical creatures."
Momoa recently revealed that he has yet to watch the 1982 original film, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger as the Robert E. Howard pulp creation.
Conan the Barbarian is due out in cinemas on August 19 in the US, and August 26 in the UK.
