Campbell starred as the lead actor in Raimi's acclaimed Evil Dead film franchise, and has confirmed that he is due to reunite with the director.
"I. Am. In. Oz," Campbell tweeted earlier this weekend, along with a recent photograph of himself and Raimi.
"Sam refuses to tell me what character I will portray," he added. "Just know that the role is pivotal."
Oz will feature an ensemble cast led by James Franco opposite the likes of Mila Kunis, Rachel Weisz, Michelle Williams, Zach Braff and Joey King.
The Disney film will follow a small-time circus magician, played by Franco, who is whisked away to the Land of Oz where he quickly rises in fame and meets the three mysterious witches.
Oz: The Great and Powerful is due out in cinemas on March 8. 2013.
