Evan Rachel Wood: 'I don't need a mansion'

Evan Rachel Wood has opened up about her film career.

The 23-year-old actress, who had her first lead role in the 2002 movie Little Secrets, revealed that she feels no pressure to sign on to a summer blockbuster.

"I don't need a mansion," Wood told Entertainment Weekly. "I'm totally fine just doing cool movies and playing interesting roles, so I wait for those. I mean, if there was a really cool, interesting franchise, I'd probably do it. I'm not against it or anything. I just haven't found one that I liked."

The actress went on to speak about her recent film The Conspirator, which is released on DVD today. In the movie directed by Robert Redford, Wood plays the daughter of Mary Surratt, a woman who was executed due to her involvement in the plot to assassinate President Abraham Lincoln.

"I just go off of instinct, and whatever I read that I would want to see," Wood said. "I really loved this part [in The Conspirator]. I thought she was strong, and I wanted to do a period piece, and I'm a huge fan of Robert Redford. So it all screamed, 'Please do it'."

Wood can be seen next in George Clooney's political thriller The Ides of March, which opens in the US on October 7 and in the UK on October 28.

The actress recently praised Clooney, describing him as an "amazing" filmmaker and insisting that she'd love to work with him again.

In April, Wood revealed that she is a big fan of Justin Bieber.
