Ryan Phillippe joins Anna Paquin, Luke Wilson in 'Straight A's'

Ryan Phillippe has signed up to the comedy-drama Straight A's.

The actor will be joining confirmed cast members Anna Paquin and Luke Wilson.

Phillippe's role sees him playing a man whose mother's ghost persuades him to return to his family. He abandoned her because of his addiction problems, Variety reports.

The film follows his attempts to reprise his relationships with his son, older brother and sister-in-law, played by Paquin.

Paquin's character is still in love with him, as she dated Phillippe's character before marrying his brother.

Wonderland director James Cox will be directing from a script by David Cole.

The 36-year old star claimed in April that he found it impossible to go out in Los Angeles and wanted to end his acting career.

Phillippe has recently been romantically linked to 18-year-old singer Demi Lovato.
